Szept is a messenger that doesn't live in someone else's cloud: you run it on your own server, and everything that passes through it is encrypted so that the server itself cannot read it. The core of its call encryption comes from TETRA communications proven in production on the TetraPoland network.

What it does

• End-to-end encryption always — no “less secure” mode
• Resistance to future quantum computers built in from the start
• A safety code during a call — you read it aloud to be sure no one stepped in the middle
• An alert when a contact's keys change (e.g. after switching phones) — you know at once it's worth verifying them

Getting started

• You enter the server address and your phone number
• You confirm the number with a code — by SMS or an invite from the administrator (works from day one, no SMS gateway needed)
• Keys are generated on the phone; contacts who also have an account show up automatically

In development

• An iOS app alongside Android
• Voice calls directly between phones where the network allows
