TETRA base station (hotspot)

A homebrew TETRA base station that fits on a desk. The first amateur project in the world to bring a home TETRA base station to full functionality.

What it does

A TETRA base station normally means a rack of equipment and a budget no radio amateur has. TetraSpot brings it down to one small computer on a desk — and one that behaves like a real network: terminals see it, register to it and talk through it exactly as they would through professional infrastructure.

What it does

  • Broadcasts as a valid TETRA network — terminals find it and register
  • Group and individual calls, including simultaneous two-way
  • Floor control for half-duplex conversations
  • Individual and group text messages, with store-and-forward delivery
  • Terminal location — live positions on a map
  • Internet on the radio — data transfer over the TETRA network
  • Browsable pages right on the radio's display: station status, call log and messages
  • Two carriers at once — more simultaneous calls and a separate channel for data
  • Radio and station positions reach APRS maps
  • Optional authentication with a list of permitted terminals
  • Over-the-air rekeying
